I m in serious trouble...

Hi guys n girls,

it looks like my box just went up in smoke, or at least my 400 EUR gfx card did.
Can't start windows in normal mode, only safe mode with network drivers.
Looking at a screen made for 1920x1200 while i m running 800x600, AND it has vertical yellow stripes on it o.O

Right now I m doing a complete backup of my HDD to my external HDD which will take some time. Then I ll wipe out Windows n install it again but I doubt that will help, since my screen looks funny already when I m booting up the system.

Since I guess i need a new gfx card, can anybody helpme with info on if there are any gfx cards still available which fit this mainboard:

ASUS P5N E nforce 570 SLI

it has a PCIe 16x, but I guess its not a PCI 2.0 so... i m done, since it looks there are no gfx cards for this old connection

I can probably start looking for parts for a complete new pc

Are you sure about that? I thought back when I still had the old PCI and 2.0 started coming out that a lot of the 2.0 cards were still backwards compatible. Unless that changed after awhile, but not sure why they would change.

Your right there Abs,a 2.0 card will run in a 1.6 slot just means that it isnt running to its full performance!

True, they are backwards compatible, I learnt that as well. Still... lets see how back the damage ist. I ll get a new gfx card today, and if my pc runs well with it, everything will be fine. But if not...
