Hmmm what do you guys think, what s hot? ATI or NVIDIA?
I had an ATI in the comp before the one that went up in smoke tonight, and I wasn't too happy with it. NVIDIA felt a bit better, what is your opinion?

A lot of Nvidia love so far. Hehe, don't buy anything until X gets his say. I've always used Nvidia, but it seems like ATI has the edge right now. They have Direct X 11 cards out already. This article might help some. They review cards at various price levels. www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-gaming-graphics-card,2544.html

ATI is a little bit more on the top, like Abe say. For the same level of performance, they build cheaper cards, and on the top performance cards, they are better than Nvidia (for the last infos I have). But I still hold my Nvidia 9800GT and it works fine. Igor run an ATI config and it rules

I used only use ATI video cards, in fact my first one had 4 MB's of RAM on it, that I quickly upgraded to 8 (prompting the guy I got parts from to say I would never need that much). Around the time Quake 3 came out I found the drivers for ATI to be a bit quirky and switched to NVidia and have never looked back. My HP Firebird came with dual NVidia 9800 S cards, and it has been very good and trouble free with video (the power supply was another story). K4CH

Hi,i have looked at the available cards&seriously if i was gonna upgrade from my ati hd4870 i am running now i would go for this card www.ebuyer.com/product/189741It is well within your budget&is far better than any nividia card i can compare it to. I think it is a perfect start for an upgrade of any system. If you was to take it further this is a m/board,processor&ram that would upgrade ur system no end.The m/board is compatable with the amd overdrive program that allows u to tweek every part of your system. The processor i think will speak for itself(i wont it lol). The ram is only 2gig&if you could stretch to getting 4 gig i would recommend it www.ebuyer.com/product/172846www.ebuyer.com/product/190673www.ebuyer.com/search?q=ddr3&x=31&y=20Depending on what powersupply you are running now u may need to upgrade that aswell,.but if i had the money i would build this system Hope this helps Never use the driver's supplyed with your ati card, always go to the official site&download the latest available!! Also if you are running xp&your GPU! supports it install directx 10,there is a link to it on our forum

I haven't done much with tweaking my cards setting, but one complaint I have about Nvidia is that the software they have is extremely buggy. When I tried to use it, it crashed my computer every time. It won't uninstall properly either.
Since then I have used Riva Tuner which is a slick little program. I wanted to adjust the speed of the fan on my card because it was getting a little warm and Riva worked perfectly for it.
