Hi All,
Just a quick note here as I am cooking some home made pizza at the moment. Italian sausage, mushroom, and tomato if anyone is curious.
I have been playing Red Orchestra 2 lately and quite like it. McNite would totally bitch about the maps and the flaws in the game, but overall it is okay, and I suspect they will fix it going forward.
The maps are good and mostly fair, and the game play is quite good as well. If there is anyone playing it in ]UBC[ let me know I and will join you and play as ]UBC[ with you.
I hope everyone is doing well, and all are having fun, doing whatever is their thing.
Take care,

Hey Kach. Good to hear from you. I was just checking your website out the other day. How does Red Orchestra compare to Wolfenstein and QW? I've heard of it but have never really checked it out. I'm still plugging away at QW's. I've played Brink and enjoyed it, but it doesn't have quite the feel of Wolf or Quake, and it doesn't look like it has taken off as well either.

Was considering getting that when it came out a while ago, but I thought against it.
Still, there's always time to reconsider...

Hey Abercrab,
If you check the website in a couple of weeks or so you should actually see a new painting there. I have just been finishing one off and despite some time constraints I should have it done in the near future.
As for Red Orchestra 2 I would say it is quite a bit different than ET and ETQW. First of all the classes are fairly similar, and there is no real advantages to any of them. There are no medics so you die a lot, and death is usually pretty swift. Given how complex games have become with detailed interactive environments now, this game is quite limiting in that respect. Having said that, the multiplayer game play is wonderful and fast.
I have not yet played in any sort of organized matches so it tends to be a free for all, but the maps are big and full of places to hide and shoot from. Aiming has been made quite realistic and therefore a bit difficult, plus muzzle jump, and bullet drop add to the difficulty as well.
The tanks are quite fun as well, and on the maps where they mix with soldiers running around they make things very interesting. The engineer has two satchels that can be used to take them out.
There are air-strikes and other optional things but I have not worked out how to do them just yet. I have only been playing for a few weeks, and not that often at that.
It does run well on my HP Firebird though and I am quite pleased about that.
Overall I would say that for $40 CDN it was a good investment.
Take care,
Kach-->

K4CH - I'm just downloading Red Orchestra 2 now, hoping to get some time in over Thanksgiving break here. Don't know if there's a "friend" system or anything yet, but if so I'll let you know of my in-game name or whatever if there even is one . Otherwise, there's always the Steam buddy list. Be delighted to play with you in the future and am looking forward to the game in whole. EDIT - Almost forgot: If anyone else has it I'd be delighted to play with you also .

Hey Froot,
I have not be on much lately due to major work stuff, and the distraction of being a part time artist/full time dad.
I do quite like Red Orchestra 2 and play it when I have a moment to. My Steam address is "wkachmar" so try that and see if we can hook up for some games on it.
If you have downloaded it, I would be interested to know what you think of it, and what maps/game types you prefer with it.

Really amazing work of art there, and so are the others!
I've never been able to visually depict my imagination, nor do I really wish to. I prefer writing, either poetry or short stories, though I usually don't get around to fully completing them.
I may just post a story or two as an attatchment if I ever get around to it sometime in the future, or maybe a poem, though those tend to be strange and even I sometimes have to ponder their meanings when I read them over some time after writing them.

Thanks a lot Froot, that is much appreciated.
I used to write quite a bit of poetry, but now I have a friend of mine that does great stuff. She has me go through the English versions of of her poems and suggest wording adjustments (English is not her first language).
Just an additional note, I downloaded Nuclear Dawn through Steam and I have to admit I am very impressed so far. It seems to be free to try for another day or so.

Sorry, didn't try Nuclear Dawn for free . Was pretty absorbed in another game that afternoon, but Christmas is near and I don't really have anything on my list yet. Would like to see how a strategy game is combined with a shooter game...

Hey Froot,
No worries about not trying Nuclear Dawn, but even with the number of maps it is a great game.
One person is the commander and builds everything, and everyone else supports this by capturing resources to help the commander work with. As things grow the commander can move the spawns forward into the enemy territory (see how I did that), and even build turrets and supply depots there.
To actually win in warfare mode you need to destroy the opposing teams command structure which is tough and crazy because everyone is close in the final battle.
It has balanced classes, and is a fun exciting game overall. I like that fact that lots is happening, but not too much at once. It is very easy to start your own server and play on it as well.
I actually bought two copies, one for myself, and one from my 13 year old daughter whom has been playing it non-stop since.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a simple, fun, fair, and exciting game to play.
