How does one start a server?

Heya. Frootlupe here, and I was wondering..... How does one start a server? I already used and completed my server-setup page thing, but I can't find my server on the internet. Whenever I select "Play Computer", it takes me to MY server. I want that server on the internet so everyone else can play. Ranked if possible. The dedicated server loaded on Lite Server, but I don't know what's wrong.

I hope I don't mislead anyone, because I'm not sure what dedicated server is, and if it requires purchase then I DON'T have it yet, but something did load that said dedicated server. Also, I don't really understand the LAN part. I have false in my LAN boxes, so it shouldn't be available that way and should be on the internet. Maybe I misunderstood the directions .


I will check over all my stuff again and try to work things out by myself, but if anyone could please help, I'd be VERY grateful.

Ok so I checked my stuff. It says "Dedicated server signed in and is authenticated". I think that's good. What I don't like is that somewhere it says "WARNING: Couldn't load" and then whatever it couldn't load. That sucks, I bet. I don't know if it loaded later, because when I clicked "Play Computer" in-game, everything was there and the rules and whatnot were EXACTLY as I set them.

I guess my only major problem is how to get it on the internet. Please help me O Surfers of the Web!

Sorry Froot but I don't think you will be able to play with your friends on ''your'' server.
You need to pay for a server if you want to do that!
You've created a LAN which is local, on your computer.
I don't know what sort of router you have, but as far as I know your friends would have to plug their computers into you router to make use of this server of yours.
I may be wrong, but that's my understanding of it ;D

No, it shouldn't be LAN. I checked the server settings and the LAN options were marked as "false". Who knows, though? Damn technology.

If I do need to pay, I'm willing to do that. I need to find a server-hosting website right?
