Hey! I got Oblivion a few weeks ago for my Xbox 360 and I LOVE it! I swear it's the best RPG on the planet. The storyline is amazing and creative, the combat detailed & somewhat realistic (it's a game, dammit), and there are so many side quests to complete. There's not a lot in the ways of weapon/armor variety, but it's enough. You can join guilds, increase your reputation with people, buy a house, invest in businesses, BE INITIATED INTO A SECRET SOCIETY OF ASSASSINS, and even be a gladiator in an arena!! IT ROCKS!!
I personally prefer melee classes, such as a warrior or knight, but in this game it is better to stick to a stealth or mage class. There are so many locks to pick and so many characters trying to kill you that it is better to either sneak past them or turn invisible and run past . Currently I have a melee class and a stealth/archer class. My melee class is a vampire at the moment (you get a lot of awesome statistic upgrades and you get to "suck blood", but the sun hurts you) but I'm trying to fix that. He's also the Arena Grand Champion. My archer is a lower level, but more involved in the Fighter's Guild. They are both in the Dark Brotherhood (the secret society of assassins). The only way to get into the Dark Brotherhood is by committing murder and getting away with it. For each guild/faction you join, you get special missions that you can complete and advance in rank from. You are rewarded with money/items.
That was a video of a Dark Brotherhood quest. That guy is such a noob!!! First of all, you can avoid getting Swamp Fever by using a freaking weapon on the creatures. Secondly, you do not need to use a paintbrush to get by. If you want the bonus for not killing guards, then it's simple. You either turn invisible (spell or potion) and run past or you sneak around the side of the guard while his back is turned and jump up on the side. You don't need to shoot Valen with a bow/spell. If you are melee and don't have any that you'd like to use, turn to your left. There is a table, and on that table there is Valen Dreth's prison cell key. Sorry for that guy's ignorance. You really need to look/ask around in Oblivion. Makes things easier.
