The only yes's are his cane was near him(most likely anyways) and his cane was still long enough to still use.

Remember, he wasn't cutting the discs off and didn't know it was being done.

Did he use the cane, in his act or job, to measure a distance?
Did he die while performing? ( again, NO Blue!! ;D )
Did he pull the trigger himself?
Did a human pull the trigger?
Was he practising for his act/ job?

Was he stuck on a revolving board, while someone shot at him or something he held. He used his cane to measure the place where he needed to stand, and because it was shorter he stood in the wrong place and got shot?

Was it the lions?
Pissed off because he had eaten a steak in front of them with out sharing it, they chewed his cane so it was shorter, then when he came near them they grabbed him with their claws and held him while another one shot him by using it's tongue to pull the trigger?
Was the elephant in on it?? ;D ;D

Oh no, zman is going to give it away now for sure. Getting way off track.

He didn't know that pieces of his cane were being cut off. He was a little person and needed the cane for walking. His job was being a little person in the circus. He killed himself because he was upset about something, what was he upset about? Moosea's question about getting smaller was very close but just in the wrong direction.
