Ok... i m trying to put this in nice words... i m not impressed. Movement feels like a slug in cotton for a start, which sucks majorly. Haven't found any menue where I could access a referee board or anything like that yet. And it seems that as an engineer, you can't repair the vehicles since you do not have the repair tool (a drill... very creative) from the start... now that s a good idea. Shot an enemy in the back with a sniper rifle while he was standing still, and he didn't die from it, hum hum... There doesn't seem to be a windowed mode... so when I switch from game to firefox to access my live control for the server, the game freezes up I think I ll give it another try tomorrow

Humm, what's happened to the new games of late? All seem to have issues which should have been sorted by the beta testing They all look good but play crap...not encouraging

Well, it sure does have cool graphics, the tank feels like a real tank when u drive it, the sounds are very realistic, environment looks real, and its pretty cool that you can actually destruct your whole environment by shooting at it with your tank. But the player movement sucks. It can take you 15-30 secs to get anywhere intesting by foot. Spawn system... looks like you have to be dead and in limbo to select a class and weapons. And you don't spawn automatically, or I didn't find out how to do that yet, you have a counter until when you can spawn, but you seem to have to actively press "spawn" again every time? Then, there seems to be no manual? I didn't get one with my DVD, there s nothing on the BC2 page, and there s none that came as files with the game, only help for troubleshooting. If anyone can point me to something like a manual, much appreciated.

Ok, been on the server today a couple of times. the games ok, not as good as modern warfare 2 or as fast as QW, been having probs with server console, it takes ages, 1 to sort through the servers and 2 to connect to VP. Now i have connection probs, i keep losing connection. don't know what thats about yet but i like it. Graphics are great and as Mc said tanks etc. sound so real on the whole its a new game and a little more time with it may prove to be fun

Ok time to me to put my 2 cents. Finally I was able to connect tonight and play around 1h30 without connection probs ! "Champagne pour tout le monde !!!" I tryed rush mode on 3 maps on our server and after being owned from every side during 15 minutes I started to understand what happend. I have to say that I like the game, sure that the feelings are different from QW but nothing really disturbing from my side (maybe just the headshot thing that mentionned McNite) the maps are big and environement different enough between each map I played tonight. The destructible environnement is a great idea and it works fine from what I have seen today, you are never under a real cover. Rush mode is intense, the map is cut in different areas, like QW, where you need to attack or defend 2 bombs in different places. Each time both bombs explode, the next 2 are accessible and players move to the next area, etc... (4 bombs set on the maps I played if I remember) it contribute a lot to focus the players (again, like QW), not like the previous BF I played. For the tools/equipment to unlock, the first are very fast to unlock. In 1 hour I obtained the 3 firsts for the assault soldier, I think that the repair tool is the first unlock for the engineer. The major issue stay the servers connection. It is awfull, maybe EA was not prepared for the 200000 players that connected between tuesday/thursday. Yesterday I spent more than 1 hour in trying to solve the problem (I first thought it comes from my sucking internet connection) and when I was finally able to log on a MP game, PB kicked me after 2 seconds of playing Today I manually updated PB to sort the thing (I'm lucky, it worked), same history to connect to a server. I checked ours, it looks empty on the server list, I try to connect, oh yes it works! but its not empty at all, 20 players playing on it... I hope EA/Dice do something really quick, because it will ruin the game (a lot of frenchy teens are calling name EA on their french forum )

I mostly play single player games and yesterday I bought BC2 thinking, that it is time to carry out evolution in my multilayer game collection.
Yes, it is not disputable: graphics are good, blowing things up is awesome, taking cover in debris and getting hit by missile is startling. But there is something missing. Do not know exactly what it is, but something is. For me BC2 is not enjoyable as ETQW. Ive already heard the answer to my complaining: don't play if you don't like it.
BC2 has been developed for consoles, like most games in modern time. In limbo menu you cant type and see chat, it bothered me the most. BC2 has somewhat camping taste. All the work is done by tank or sniper at the hill. One other thing, its not the 1941 year in soviet, where every soldier received a rifle and five bullets. Why do I need to earn med packs (as Medic) and repair tools (as Engineer)? Why I'm not fully equipped from beginning?
Ok, enough complaining. Ill be playing on Vanishing Point, if you don't mind. See you in battlefield.
Note: I was using a internet translation program so possible that there are strange sentences.

The serverbrowser has problems, that s a known bug. It took me several tries to finally find it.
I suggest you filter the game mode for rush, and then sort the servers alphabetically descending, name starts with a V. That s how I did it. Might take a few tries and start/exit BC2.

Had the same prob H, cant seem to put VP in fav's but after a few visits VP has gone into history.
i kept on losing connection this morning and kicked by PB? i know its not my connection. i have however updated my video driver and i played without interuption. don't think it was that, that caused any probs?
The game, i really quite like it now, with the exeption of bloody spawn camping and i think 24 slots is to many.

Haha, sucks to be you guys!
I've only had 1 connection problem, and that lasted for only 5 minutes!!
MC got jipped with the no manual thing, but in-game you go to options and it says foot, vehicle, pilot. Those are the controls. The rest is easy to figure out.
I think that the lack of items in the beginning is actually helpful, or at least it was for me. It makes it easier to get used to basic gameplay and combat before complicating things with team support.
My headshots never bug out, and I don't think this game is slow at all. Maybe my interpretation of "slow" is different? I don't like playing a game that isn't realistic, so running 30 mph constantly isn't what I generally look for. The tanks rock, though I have to say that flying is quite a bit more complicated in BFBC2 than in QW.
The only thing I'm pissed about or even slightly disappointed about is the server browsing interface. The refresh doesn't work and the server could say: "3/24 slots filled" and it will still give you the server full message when you try to connect. As for adding favorite servers like VP, just find it in the server browsing interface (if it isn't messed up and you can actually see it) and click the black arrow right next to the name. NOTE: This is not the join arrow on the far side. You will get an add to favorite option and bam it's in there.
MC - As to your manual problems, I did tell you where to go in-game to get t the controls. No EA connection required, just hit options. Also, maybe it's slow for you because you don't know where the sprint button is? LShift, like in QW. Sniper rifles only kill in one shot if you get a headshot (you did say you shot him "in the back"). Come on, you should know that. As to your spawning rants, I don't think it's much of a problem to actively click "Spawn", and with the combat so intense (or so glitchy for some of you) why would you want to fool around with classes and such while you're susceptible to sniper/tank/MG fire? In my opinion, this "active spawn" system makes it possible for a player to spawn when they're ready and after they've chosen their gear carefully without being pressured by the constant excitement of combat. It also gives you a chance to wait for the right strategical moment to spawn by a squadmate. For example, your squadmate is running up a hill and is under heavy MG fire. He is almost at some sandbags, which would provide cover. Instead of being forced to automatically spawn next to him right in the crossfire, you could wait until he gets to cover and then heal him if you spawn medic. It's all about strategy, my friends.
Picking up kits: If you guys didn't already notice, you can pick up class kits from fallen comrades and enemies. This makes it easier to complete objectives by allowing the player to change their team's immediate game-plan in dire situations. For example, I was once a medic who had just killed an engineer. I had just planted on the M-COM station when a recon came up to me and fired his puny little pistol. I pwned his face, but that's not the point. Then a tank blew a hole in the wall. I, being a medic, was defenseless. BUT I was able to pick up the engie kit, get behind the tank, and blast a hole in its ass with my RPG, giving me two kills, vehicle damage points, and vehicle destruction points. Yes, I did get the most points out of anyone that map and yes I did get the golden squad pin.

For those who have Steam but not bought BC 2 via Steam, if you want you can add the game in Steam (the "Add a non Steam game" button below your game list).
> it allows Steam chat to work ingame and may be an easy way to see if somebody is playing without launching the game. One thing to point, the game is not really linked to steam, you can still run it after that without Steam on (from the small experience I have)

Put the text from the "PB sucks" thread in here, cuz its better kept here: As I posted in the internal ref board for BC2, post in there if you want limited ref powers via web interface. That way you can always kick someone off VP and get a slot on our own server.
Also yesterday X and me were on the server for a bit, and at one point within like 10 mins it was totally crowded, which was pretty cool.
I played a couple of hours, and its ok. Sniping is cool as soon as you figure out where to be, ran out of ammo on several occasions and sure pissed off some guys that never found out where that bullet came from
Its for that reason btw why I do not like kill cams... they give away your position as a sniper.
I think after the initial "why on earth do I miss these unlocks" the game is getting very tactical. Being sniper and being able to call mortar strikes is quite a combination ;D ;D ;D Oh and... while u get 50pt for a kill as a sniper, you can earn like +150pt for "marksman headshot" Here s the link to the thread in the internal board >>klick here<<

Well today I finally got to play Battlefield Bad Company 2, and I must say after waiting nearly a month I was ready to give up on it.
Although it's not perfect I have to say I really liked it very much, and have decided to flip my ET server to a B:BC2 one in the near future.
I found that experienced people really move fast and kill you quickly but the environments are nice, and very realistic. I need to get on a few more empty servers and figure things out, but I am quite impressed with this game for sure.
Not sure there are any ]UBC[ that would try it, but the Beta of Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online is out, and I have quite enjoyed that as well, so if anyone is up for a match let me know.

Ah golf, well played a bit on consoles, but for PC's I think not See you soon KACH What? Greatest golf game came out years ago on PC. Somehow this was on a bunch of the computers in school so we were playing it whenever we had some free time. I don't think I've played a golf game since.
