I'm thinking of going SLI. on this card, but I have some doubts about how much I would gaine on it? I know it's not like "2 cards = 2x performance", but how much should I expect to get extra? And is it even possible to tell? ... becouse from what I "google", it's seems to be like "test-and-you'll-find-out'ish"

And is it even possible to tell? I don't know if it would be worth it. A quick google found this 8600GTS SLI benchmark: xtreview.com/review202.htm which suggests that SLI (best case) would be slightly slower than an 8800GTS. I think the 8800GTX (Ultra?) was the basis for the 9800GTX which, in turn, became the 250GTS, comparison here. The 250GTS is a little harder to find these days. Looks like you could probably pick up a 450GTS for similar money. If your budget/PSU are large enough, the 460GTX cards seem like pretty good value. I should add that I've never actually run an SLI setup and I don't really keep a close eye on the ATI/AMD cards because their linux drivers are so shocking. Actually, since I don't know what I'm talking about, I'm not sure why I replied to this thread.

I've never seen the value in trying multiple cards versus the money and hassle of getting it to work. It seems that new cards that come out quickly eclipse the old versions even when combined so that mid level cards are always available at a reasonable price that can keep up with just about anything. The only reason I've ever found for SLI or crossfire is for the bragging rights of having done it and of having the most graphically advanced system possible.

My PC has issues. Several crashes on both Linux and Windows lead me to suspect it's hardware related (specifically, the graphics card since each time I've been doing something graphics-y). At least Debian lets me drop back to the command prompt and restart, Windows just locks hard. Anyway, the graphics card is out and I'm using the Intel GFX they build into Sandy/Ivy Bridge CPUs (never thought I'd be grateful for that while I try to track down the problem. So no more Quake Wars for a bit. I wonder if the Intel GPU could manage 30fps at 1280x720... EDIT: Haha, it sort of works in a trippy, psychedelic kind of a way imgur.com/a/f5e8C/embed#1

It looks more impressive in motion. There's a shimmering effect that's difficult to capture in a still. Also, flyer-drones have a blue speckled haze surrounding them, so they're easy to spot. Now I know how moosea's screen looks at 1am on a Saturday morning

Hmm, sounds like you might be onto something here. Enemies don't have shimmering hitboxes showing up too do they?

Stability has improved, so hopefully I've found the culprit. Now I just need Nvidia to hurry up and release the GTX 660ti/670. Another quick selection of OpenGL texture glitches. Lacerators and Strogg grenades look particularly good on some maps but it's really difficult to get a good screenshot.
