Okay time to let you see what I was up to last week. Any questions? And yes that guy was taken out with a bow and arrow, not by me though, I did the calling, my hunting partner did the shooting. Kach

poor thing, do we really need to kill these beasts in this day & age?? i dont see the point to it imho, unless you need to eat? killing with bow & arrow must cause much pain & suffering i'd imagine..

Not if you hit them right... the arrowheads are well designed and cause the lung to collapse right away, and that s deadly (same effect as with bullets). You need to be close to target though, which is one reason its not allowed in Germany... we hunt at distances starting at 60 meters up to 200 meters (300 in the mountains), so that s pretty difficult with arrows. And all deer will be eaten too (in Germany)... Kach do u guys actually get a part of them too?

I used to hunt rabbit when i was a kid (air rifle) but my family were poor & needed to eat, i never enjoyed the killing part tbh, i honestly have np's with hunting (hey you have to eat i know) its the trophy/fur hunters i cant abide, ie: bear skins & the like.

Well I have decided to put all of my responses into one post. @ RebusBefore I say anything I just want to say that I respect your position on this subject and the fact that you are entitled to have one on it. Your second post did take the wind a little out of my sails because I was going to ask if you ate meat. In this day and age a lot of people that buy and eat meat get it wrapped in the store and can't relate it to a living, breathing animal. Through my work I have been to countless hog farms, cattle farms, chicken farms, and slaughterhouses for each of these. Some of the animals we consume are raised in spaces so tight they can't even turn around in. They are injected with all kinds of things and have stuff added to their diets to alter how they grow. I really wonder how humane animal farming really is sometimes. The elk that my hunting partner and I got was the result of three years work, expense, and three seasons hunting time. We joke about it but I think the meat may have cost us $200.00 per Kilogram in the end. And just so you know we are not trophy hunters, but in this case the bulls were the only things we could get to respond to the calling and the trophy part was a bonus. As for the use of a bow as weapon it can be very lethal if used correctly and absolutely a mess if done wrong. Today's technology can send an arrow at 325 fps and with 100 grain broadhead be every bit as deadly as a bullet (more so in some cases due to the size of the broadhead). But shot placement is the key, this guy was shot at 17 yards, and did not go far at all, which is the goal every time you hunt. My point is really this, is it more humane to eat from an animal raised in a pen having no freedom, carted off to a plant to be killed and cut up, then one you have learned all about, stalked, killed, cleaned, and have butchered for your own consumption. @ SerI am not and never have been an animal hater (sometimes I would like to kick my dog though). In fact quite to the contrary I think you would find that most hunters are animal lovers. Believe it or not you really have to know a lot about an animal such as an Elk to be able to hunt it successfully (especially with a bow). Last week we encountered black bears, deer, wolves, coyotes, heard a cougar several times, and of course elk. So Ser just to let you know I do like animals, and every now and then I eat one. @ McNiteYes we do get them. In fact I cleaned and skinned this guy completely before we took him to the butcher shop to be processed. In the end there was about 400 lbs of meat, which will last here most of the winter. paxI would be happy to blow on the call I was using the next time on TS. I am sure everyone would just laugh their asses off though. I think I have it down though cause at one point I had three of these big guys chasing me down for some intimate times. Anyhow sorry if I offended anyone with my posting of last weeks hunt, but I don't apologize for hunting, or being a hunter, cause believe me its much harder getting meat from the forest with a bow then it is from a butcher with your wallet. thx for explaining what it all intails Kach, its easy to forget (when shopping for food) what animals go through when you see it packaged up in fancey wrapping, im glad you use the meat, & take care to execute a clean kill, living in Canada & hunting i'd imagine is quite a natural thing

--- Yes I was one of those Bambi lovers too but that’s not the real world and killing , hunt for prey is part of natures world both for survival of the fittest and to make sure that all is balanced .... and yes we are part of nature too .... Thousand of wildlife are hit by a car, shot down by farmers and left to decay in fields, starved to death due to over population, or killed by poachers….. I think hunting is a big part of the natural order of things whether you get that depend on your connection and understanding of nature..I think From chatting to Kach about hunting, it seems to me, to hunt an animal with a bow you have to understand it's speech, to learn it's habits, likes, dislikes, thought processing, to watch that animal and hear it in ways no other human might see or hear, and that to me , is the ultimate admiration and homage to nature. I think Kachs points are very well put and make me think of us as being part of nature something I think human kind is forgetting to do.... Yes it easy to forget that when shopping that yes that was a real chicken like the ones from chicken run ….. lol … Although after a bugs life I never killed an ant since
