So I downloaded Hawken today to give it a try. Very fun. It's in open beta right now. I haven't taken the time to check what their long term model is for releasing/running the game is, but right now you start out with a free mech. You can earn xp to unlock more mechs and you also level up your current mech and can upgrade it.
I played a couple games of team deathmatch. Definitely focused towards teamplay.
Love the feel of the controls. Seems like you really are clomping about in a big hunk of metal. Like the gritty feel of the graphics too.
