While I m at it, here s the next survey ;D Which kind of mice are you using, and which mousepads? For me it was a HUGE improvement when I changed from ballmouse to optical, and then it was again quite an improvement when I switched from a cheap optical mouse to my MX500 about 4 years ago, and its still doing its job perfectly. Ok here is my setup: mouse: Logitech MX500 (with cord of course) mousepad: Razer exactMat X control (click here to have a look)keyboard: cherry keyboard for professional office work (don't know which one), didn't want anything with fancy gaming stuff, and its already like 4-5 years old (looks a bit icky too )

Mouse: Razer Copperhead (corded but it don't get in the way) Mousepad : Some hard plastic mouspad (with led illumination around base that I never use), the hard black surface works great with laser mice. Keyboard : Dell quietkey, always used Dell keyboards as they have a robust feel, unfortunatly i tend to wear down the WASD keys until they are through to the switches

When we played RtCW i still had a logitech ball mouse. I think its the best mouse iv ever had on gaming. Too bad its ergonomics are so awful, i would use it even today.
Now i have Razer Deathadder mouse and ulti-mat mousepad. The mouse has great performance, 2 thumb buttons and onthe fly sensitivity setting.

mouse = Black and silver, very cheap microsoft optical mouse! Key board = black and silver, very cheap microsoft one that matches the mouse - both were with the pc when i got it. Mouse mat = one that feels as rough as sand paper and gives off tiny little bits all the time ( a sure sign of quality!!) - Strontiumdog stole my QW mouse mat and I only get to use it when I go on his pc!!

Igor: check out my mousepad, its really nice, even has 2 different surfaces (one fine grained and one rough) ;D When I build my new config, I change my keyboard and mouse but not the mouse pad. Is the mousepad realy helpful to aim better? I mean with a ball mouse I can easily understand, but with the last optical mouse, I am doubful.

IMO with optical mice, you have to make sure your mouse mat has a hard smooth surface and defo not a white one! (Try an optical mice on a white mat and you will find out what I mean ) I think some optical mouse mats are made of coloured glass so you will glide over the surface, bit chilly in this weather to use I would think, brrrrrr. moosea get your Xmas pressie list updated to include a new Razor optical mouse, you will find a big difference in your gameplay.

Igor: a good mousepad helps your precision because the optical stuff can scan the structured surface well, and it makes your mouse glide smoothly over the surface. Some ppl even buy small stickers to put them under their mouse for enhanced smoothness. Also, while plastic mousepads can wear off, this one has a very hard surface, and doesn't show any abrasion at all after some years of use.
Do the razors still have only 2-3 buttons? I like my MX because it has 8 buttons that you can program to different keys.

Razer mice have 7 programmable buttons although I only use a couple of these for chat and decoy use ingame. I have the copperhead currently, changed to that after using a diamondback for a while (developed a switch problem, that I fixed later) Copperhead page eu.razerzone.com/p-74-razer-copperhead-gaming-mouse.aspxI was a little worried about the razer having a cable as previously I used a wireless mouse but I do not have any problems as the cable is light and very flexible. I don't think I would go back to a ball mouse again. As for the keyboard I have changed that for a logitech G11 (the non LCD version of the G15) got a nice feel and loads of programmable buttons (18 x 3 modes) www.logitech.com/index.cfm/keyboards/keyboard/devices/285&cl=gb,en Logitech have just released details of the G13, but I doubt I would bother with that for 70 pounds. uk.gizmodo.com/2008/12/10/logitech_unveils_ultimate_gami.html

I have to go to the shop and pick up mice - I only got little hands! I find a lot of these mice are designed for big hands and they are too heavy and too long for me. Mine is very light weight and comfortable for me.

Mouse: Logitech B59 Mousepad: Some black thingie I got for free back in the 90s keyb: Piece of shit logitech OEM that doesn't have insert key I'm still using my very first optical mouse I got back in 2000 or so. Logitech quality so still serves me well (with a cord of course). I'm not so happy with the keyboard, one key missing and the S key is starting to act up after only 3 years of usage

I saw this topic...and I saw my mouse, I have been switching a lot since I have tons of cheap mice on my house(im a computer technician). I wondered if it would really make a difference... I went to the store and got me a Genius Navigator 535... it's a LOT of difference... I have only played like one hour though Thanks for inspiring me

Yea there is a lot of differens wich kinda of mouse u got/use.
I only use mouse with a wire, becouse the reaction time is faster then wireless, and you dont have the problem with batteries running out in the middle of a battle.
Im very happy for my G5. Keyboards I really dont care what I use. There is a lot with the oppetunity to make smart shortscut.. hm.. but do you really use them? those of you who have those boards?
