Hey guys,
after talking to another player today which I was speccing for a bit and wondering why he played as he played he told me he was playing with 800x600 and that explained some things to me. So now I m wondering which resolutions are you playing with?
I m playing at 1280x1024, unlocked my FPS and they vary from 30-60 depending on the map and are, but they are very jumpy.
PS: The command for showing the fps is: seta com_showfps "1"

Me to: 800x600 due to my gfxcard. But I havent really tryet other setting, I also always ran ET. and still do 800x600.
What`s the advances of running higher settings?.. yes you see more of the game, but things are also smaller?

Running @ 1600 x 1024 (16:10) windowed mode on a 22" wide screen setup, same sort of FPS results as McNite.
Not sure there is an advantage running at higher res, I think it just looks better, maybe running at a lower res (in full screen mode) on a large monitor could give some advantage for sniping as the image is larger.

I think a low resolution is no disadvantage for close combat and medium distance fighting, because the targets are big enough on the screen then anyways.
The high resolution helps me to see more at long distance. I can snipe up to distances where the players heads are barely bigger than the dot in the crosshair of my sniperrifle. If you have a low resolution, I d say it gets very difficult to spot players at that distance when you are unscoped, and its also difficult to track players and do the headshots.
For example I can kill players all over the map on the europe maps, or on refinery, or valley, mostly with one-shot kills.
@ blue: Things dont get bigger or smaller when you vary the resolution, but very small things don't get displayed on low resolutions. Of course everything looks nicer too with a high resolution, but well... i m there to kill and not to take a walk and look at the walls.
The player I was speccing was sniping, so I really was wondering why he played like that.

Now I wonder what you thought is the reason why you die on the map, when there are no other players around ;D ;D ;D

With my new 26" Samsung screen I upped the resolution to 1920x1200 in windowed mode which is prefect for switching between QW and TS and MSN and stuff. Its kick-ass with all the things I see now... sniping is much better too, since the players on long distance are a bit bigger and easier to kill.

1280x1024 here. Details turned pretty low for additional fps. Would need a new system to be able to go higher... Maybe after summer....
