Hey guys, lets face it, QW is the game of uneven teams but what can we do on our server to handle that problem best? So I d like to know which strategies you prefer, what you think is most effective. I ve both used shuffles and moving single players over. Shuffles I don't like in the middle of a game, and it tends to piss off players (which is not good on a small server). If teams are uneven from a start, I ask to even teams and if nobody does I pick one of the good players of the stronger team and move him over... that way only 1 player can get pissed ... just some thoughts.

Hi McNite
I start to play on ]UBC[ server a few days ago, and I am happy to find a server were the administrators try to keep the teams fair
I think your system is good, in general people never wan't to change when teams are unbalanced, and having a random dispatch of players is sometime frustrating.
with your method, maybe only 1 guy will be angry, and the server will not be empty at the end of the map
See you soon during the game

Hi, this is my first post here but anyway... I think the moving of one hand picked individual is the best choice. That way only one guy gets pissed, and when chosen right this single player has the possibility of turning the tide of war and hopefully preventing the rest of the underhanded team to grow frustrated enough to disconnect. Personally I tend to change teams when they are unbalanced and I notice it (as I don't spend too much time during the match watching scores this is not always too soon).

Ok I m back in QW, and it seems one thing didn't change: the difficulty of balancing teams For example yesterday: the 2 clan guys (dont remember their tag) who kept sticking in one team which made things really difficult. I m wondering whether it would be appropriate to switch 2 players like after 10 mins of the map: take one good player from the better team and put him into the other team, and move one bad player from the bad team to the good team. Maybe this could improve the game for the last 10 minutes? Opinions plz

We talk about that yesterday with Igor, he's thinking the same way, and I am agree too Looking how the game is since there is a lot of new players running everywere like head-off chickens ;D, this solution is maybe the best thing to do, because the shuffle make sometimes the game worst than it was before it, with some of my last months experience. Btw, I'm happy to see you back on the battlefield and enjoyed the yesterday evening games

Yea, a shuffle after 10 mins can really result in too many ppl leaving the server.
I guess when I shuffled yesterday at the beginning of Canyon it was not that lucky as well, but there were 4 clan player on GDF, I was sure it would ve been a very short match. And after the shuffle it was the stackers that left, so we had a bit more of a relaxed game (well GDF only did the bridge), maybe we could ve evened the teams after 10 mins.

Well I think we were already agree that changing only 2 guys is better than a shuffle at a middle of a map and also at a start even if it's easier to accept for the players. On an other hand to be honest, I am less and less patient with the Experienced stackers (experienced guys only plays together and leave the newbes to their poor deadly destiny.) Less patient too with the whinners, the Xp-whores and the brainless Chicken. So when after many lenght to even the team, I only meet angryness, whinnings and stupid asking, I don't care anymore if people leaving or not. I rather prefer a relaxed game with a few smart and pleasant players, than a server full of asshole. And this last weeks, the server was often full only a quarter after I connect to it. Why? because enough friends connect to join me. And it's easier to rule a server when you have 4 or 5 friends to help you balancing the team.

I think that if you have asked for players to even the teams and no one has then just shuffle at start of next map. If they are unbalanced at the start of a map and no one wants to even them then shuffle. Igor is less patient with the headless players - am nervous that he will kick me soon - but so far only chickens make him cross - not lemmings!

I just tried to play on 2 other servers since ours was emptly... its unplayable due to uneven teams all along. Total suck. Lets keep our server a clean place and zero tolerance to xp-whores, whiners and other idiots.

The only way to slow down the game is to set a strong defense line. & to do that you need players who teamwork. In such situation, I create a fireteam and invite the guys who are not running mad and defense at the right place. The first defense class is often an ingeneer. Then it depends how far is your team spawn or if you have to defense inside a building or outside, but a medic is often a good choice.

I think one of the most rewarding things is when you're in the defensing team and it looks at the start of the map like you're going to loose it in 2 minutes but then you manage to hold the last objective till the end (like refinery or canyon). On the balance issue I'm starting to lean on Igor's side, just balance it, if they don't get it then they are not worth playing with.

to be honest i think the idea of moving a player is a shambles, as I know if i was on the server, I would be the first person to be moved.
I have encountered this before on the 'Purgatory Afterglow' server by a guy named ingame as 'Fraggus'.
this annoyed me big time as I chose the team I wanted to be on and thats the one I wanted to stick with.
as I have said in a previous post, I ALWAYS defend, I hate attacking, when I attack the game ends too quick for me.
I admit I cannot defend alone, and it does take a team, but 75% of the time when I am defending the game lasts the full 20 minutes.
I think some of your members would agree with me on this one.
I do not stack, I like to go on the team which needs the help, but think about it, in my personal opinion which ever team I am on the other needs help, I have not come here to boast, but look at it from an experienced/good players point of view.
imagine you came onto our server, and you got moved randomly, we said, were balancing teams, you would NOT just say, oh ok. you would get frustrated and probably leave the server.
but I am guessing if you moved someone over from one side to another and lets say somebody came in and joined that team, the player moves back over, I am guessing you would either;
ban that play or kick that player.
I was on the server last night, UBC was all on GDF apart from 'z_man'.
I could have shouted, stacked, etc. etc. but I didnt because I knew that its JUST A GAME.
I like to play on small servers because I get the max out of my graphics card and CPU. I also think any more than 20 people is way too much.
I have only been banned 2 times off servers due to the fact the French dont like how I kill em.
Like I said, I have not come here to brag, my stats do that on their own, I am just voicing my opinion.
thanks for reading sorry its long
