Got a warning on your server just now

Some of you might know me. I have played a bit on your server, and had my share of fun there, and its in my favorites.

I understand that a server needs rules. I have owned and admined public servers myself for many years, not QW servers, but anyway.

I got a warning just now regarding this rule:

Rule 3 - No spawncamping or abusive spawnkilling.

This is a rule that is enforced on many servers, and I dont have a problem with it. You will never find me sitting on some hill, shooting into the enemy spawn, except for taking out deployables. What I often DO though, is blocking people from running from their spawn into the active objective. And apparently some of you have a problem with this, even if you have every chance to take me out with a heavy vehicle, rocket or whatever. Its your server, and all that - but the thing that confuses me, is that while some of you extend the spawn camping rule to include the area betveen the spawn and the objective, others in your clan are totally ok with what I do. At least thats what I am told in the team chat.

I got the warning on the map "outskirts". I was driving the titan outside the transmitter building, to stop the defence from getting inside. I have never imagined that doing this would cause me to get a warning.

The reason why I post here is not to whine or tell you how to admin the server. Its simply to find out what goes on your server, and if the rules are different depending on the admin present. It is not the first time I have blocked the objective on your server, but it is the first time I have received a warning for doing so. Anyway, I thought I was getting along pretty fine with the lot of you.

we couldent even leave spawn, cuz u where killing us with a titan.
that is spawnkilling.. its ok to take out the deploy's.
but not waiting for us to get out.
thats wy u got warned.
we'r trying to keep the server clean from spawnkill/camping

blocking the spawnexit is also not allowed.
how can we defend then?

ur welcome to play any time, but with ]UBC[ server rules.

Ser must ve been very gentle to just issue a warning I ve seen ppl a kick right away for that ;D

And, yea: For us it doesn't matter if you kill in the spawn or right at its exit, because the result is the same.

I have never come across this definition of spawnkilling anywhere else. I think that you will find that most people will define "spawnkilling" as killing a player immediately after spawn, denying him the opportunity to fight back.

Well.. in the spawn you have a cyclops, a desecrator, a hog, a tormentor, more than one icarus. And you can exit the spawn all the way around it. I often find myself at the receiving end of what I did (I mostly play as strogg anyway), and a titan in that location is still only one guy in a titan.

A couple of maps before this, one of your members told me "the whole map is playable, just ignore them" when two players on the other team complained about the same thing. I think perhaps you guys should agree among yourselves what is ok and what is not, because right now you dont. On some maps it is essential to stop the defenders from building a strong defence in the first place. And on outskirts, you need to get the defenders out and keep them out to get the job done. When you have a rule that says that the strogg should be given safe passage into the building, you are more or less handing over victory to the strogg.

Well pizzaman you have good arguments.

But the problem is how many people could kill you in that tank? I mean, on vanishing, few of the players are experienced enough. In that case, most of the strogg players will simply run out to the base and you will kill many of them before one succeed to destroy you with another vehicle.
Raping the newbe front of the spawn with a titan or a dessecrator is not allowed & I bet you are good enough to help your team on a different way.

Be sure that we are all agree to not accept a situation that could be frustrating for all the people who need to learn more about the gameplay.

Of course sometime we could be a bit excessive, but you seems to know how it could be difficult to admin a server.

Most of the time, it's hard to have more than 3 guys, good enough to defense at the right place. The rest of the team running mad around the map. You are welcome to kill them as you wish.

also if we alow that, more players will do it, at the end there will be 2 tanks, and anasi..... complete chaos.

it would be the same if w're at gdf spawn. taking out the gdf.
they must be stopped before running out to object ..

Hey pizza, if you're in a tank by a spawn, then you must be spawncamping! If you're only blocking entrances then your stopping the normal flow of the game; as the opposing side can't get to the objective. This pisses people off as they have to get into a vehicle to remove the idiot spawncamping. ie one bloke with an assault rifle/lacerator no problem but one titan means big hassle to remove it. Its a big thing on other servers, but on Vanishing Point the dweebs are kicked. This is what makes VP a great server to play on because the don't suffer idiots using titans to block entrances/exits! ;D ;D ;D Go UBC!!!

you instigate that you would rather kick than give a warning and on other posts you say yourself you just kick anyway, you also said previously in this topic that the guy who issued the warning was soft.

forum trolls... im new here and getting up to speed.

you could call me a hardcore gamer if you like, which means im an active player and active in a few communities, get real mate, im not just searching your forum for useless things, i was finding things determine my join request, but your threats are ugly and you dont seems to want to not only welcome guests but settle somebodies thoughts that they might have about this clan just so he could join.
