Retro RTCW night!

Server is running stock RTCW patched to 1.41b AFAIK.

Best to check you can connect before hand as RTCW servers were never any good at map redirect so make sure you have the stock maps plus the expansion ones (Tram etc.).

You should be able to get them here (or google RTCW GOTY edition)

Server is 20 slots and there is a lot of interest in a retro night, for those that have never seen the game it was the fore runner of ET and is WWII based.

No CV ops class but most of the other classes work the same as ET ones (sniper is a soldier function in RTCW)

Hope to see a few of you there.

P.S. if I get the chance to talk to Frenzy ill get him to pop good ol' River on there ;D

hello. i may not be there now. i dont really understand where you put the IP thing. i just look on the internet game of it and couldnt find it???


also i just notcih do you have to have rtcw enemy territory or is just rtcw game ok by it self?

You just need RtCW, and the patch Lambert mentioned, and there is a "connect to IP" option in the game.

How to get RtCW going:
1) Install game
2) download patches: 1.4, 1.41 and 1.41b
3) run patch 1.4
4) run patch 1.41
5) extract patch 1.41b and paste mp_wolf.exe into your RtCW/ folder, its a new .exe for security reasons.
6) download GOTY-mappack and install this too

How to find the server:
1) open the serverbrowser
2) click "add new favorite"
3) type in IP and a name (like: test)
4) then change your "source" to "favorites" and click "refresh list"
5) new server should appear there

Lambert: I can't get onto that server, the map loading doesn't end. Can you connect correctly to it?

hi how do you extract patch 1.41b from winRAR?

also is it ment to download loads of stuff when you are waiting for the game to start?

you need a winrar extracter you can get it from here (just ignore the nag to buy messages)

You only normally have to download a lot if you do not have the map or mod the server is running, as I said it is not as good as Et for server redirection of files, so it is best to make sure you have all the maps that are likey to be played on the night.

The server has been restarted as requested and connections are accepted ok now (or at least I can connect ok)

if i download other patchs that are not needed for this game coming up. will it mess thing up?? so i cant get on the sever??

ive been trying to play on other sever and some of them i cant get on coz i dont have the right patch for them

Just enable the "get missing files from server" option in your RtCW, then you ll get the files. And it should not mess up the installation, since all the mods create their own folders within the RtCW folder.

Lambert: Is mp_theriver on that server? And is voting for maps enabled?
