I was wondering how you guys and girls celebrate x-mas, and which kind of regional customs you have that look weird for strangers ;D Here is how it goes for us: Main day is the 24th actually: we put all the wrapped presents under the x-mas tree days before where they wait for the 24th. On the 24th a good part of my family is playing x-mas songs with a brass orchestra from noon to afternoon for old ppl and at a hospital. Then we attend a x-mas service (with lots of singing, but no praying for brains for our politicians (my sis told me they do that in the US)). After that there is a big dinner with family (raclette this year) which usually lasts until the last one is totally stuffed. Then its a slow moving over into living room (u dont want to run fast with all the food in you), where we have a good lot of more singing. Since we r all experienced with doing music, we can even sing songs in harmony which is a lot of fun. Then comes the main part: lots of unwrapping gifts one after another, including mean presents or oopsies (eg. my youngest sister got an Elvis Presley x-mas CD from me which made her worry before she got the one she wished for). This can last until like 11pm or something. After that we had lots of talking and discussion until 5am, covering social politics, school politics and epigenetics this year. 25th and 26th usually is visiting family and more eating too much, and exchanging presents etc. And how do you celebrate?

I've joined the family of my girl friend . Taking news of each one, we shared a tasty christmas dinner. When the time of the gifts come, we were starring, fascinating by a first year baby trying to open his one.

In the Uk the main day is 25th. On 24th we went to my sisters, early evening, to see my two nephews. On morning of 25th I go to my parents house to see my nephews open their presents. We have a glass of fizzy wine when we arrive, at about 10 am!! then open presents and drink more wine! Then eat lunch, with a drink! Then have a drink before we leave! On 26th my parents normally take their vintage car on a rally - but the car they have now is not suitable, so this year we all got together at my parents house again and had a meal and watched a movie together! ;D

The main day is 24th. I spent it at my parents, just me and my sisters and parents. We start the celebration in the afternoon by visiting the cemetary to light candles for our ancestors. After that it's the x-mas sauna. Then we eat till we are stuffed. Then we move to the living room to sing christmas carols and after suitable amount of singing we move on to open the presents. After that we usually drink coffee and eat pastries. Then we play the new board games we've got. After that is the main event, me and my sis watch all 4 Die Hard movies Then it's 8am on 25th and we sleep a bit. On 25th we go to my grandma's where we have x-mas lunch with all the aunts and cousins.

Few years back they showed the first one on x-mas eve, then we were like okay, now we've seen that, let's watch the other too and it's been our tradition ever since.
