I haven't been on Quake much recently as it is, but depending on how I make out today it may be even less. My computer doesn't want to start up anymore even in safe mode. It has been acting strange lately so that I have been thinking about doing a clean reinstall but looks like I'm being forced to now. I'm getting a registry error so I don't think it's hardware related, hopefully.
Seems like one of two things finally pushed it over the edge. It was either installing teamspeak which kept crashing my computer during the install or when Z-man logged into his account on my computer. I started having strange buggy things happening, especially when trying to boot Quake Wars, after each of those events.
All the better excuse to build myself a new computer this year though.

I normally use but have had trouble running Lavasoft's adware/spyware removal software. That may have been an early indication if not part of the problem. I can't boot the computer at all now, even in safe mode or an old restore point so it looks like a new install is needed. I have plenty of hard drives so I won't loose anything I want to keep. There was something wrong with my audio because my audiodg.exe (think I have the file name right) was chewing up like 90% of my processor and quake would freeze up when initiating audio. I unistalled my audio drivers and when I reinstalled them is when the registery error started popping up when I tried to boot.

I bet your using windows vista? I use it and it lets malware through all the time even with virus scans running I've had it let malware through onto my graphics card and my modem Stick with XP if you can for the moment, until they fix the holes!!

All reinstalled and back in business for the most part.
X, I've used Avast in the past. I liked it fine but it seems to have hogged resources from time to time. I got Mcafee free through work.
I am running the 64 bit version of Vista and have had very few to no problems. I crashed my XP system a few years ago and was running RAID striped drives. That was a real headache. I need to keep my registry cleaner. I'm pretty sure that was what took my XP system as well.
Have onboard audio. I believe its Realtek.
