I took it on Steam, not the cheapest for sure, but as I am using it a lot it is the easier way for me.

Do you guys have any insight what place would have the best price on downloadable Brink? 50€ from steam and 30£ from Direct2Drive are the ones I've found so far. You guys are getting ripped off. I'm not sure what the cheapest price is but I've seen it from $46-$50 here in the USA. On steam it is $50. At today's rate that is about 33.67€ Does the gift function work internationally on Steam? Seems like someone could almost have their own little business buying games for others and charging a small fee to gift them across it.

Of course I'm sure the credit card company will rip me off some with the conversion but still no too bad.

My copy should be waiting for me at home today. I have yard work and a concert to go to after work so I'll be on late with it.
zman's copy is at the post office so if he's lucky, I'll be able to pick it up and drop it off to him at work.

I have about 13 hours logged on Brink now, got it about two days ago.
My review: Brink's overall game play is very similar to that of ET:QW, so all of us will be able to tackle it easily enough. The weapon names are humorous spin offs of actual weapon types, and most of the character customization articles have funny names as well. The feature where holding the sprint button allows you to do parkour (or however its spelled) tricks is very useful. Many a time have I been saved by vaulting over something and then climbing a tall ledge, leaving my enemy clueless as to where I am.
Its pretty fun overall, well, pretty fun is sort of an understatement. But yes, you will need to find the rest out yourselves, as the rest of my review would have to be opinionated.

I've put in a few hours, mostly playing Medic while I try to learn the maps. The game-play is classic Enemy Territory. I think Bethesda were slightly misselling this as a mingle player game. The bots are a bit rubbish and it's best played online. The parkour stuff is solid and generally works well. Would be nice to have the option to turn off the SMART system because you can perform all the jumps/slides yourself. The movement is definitely slower than in ETQW and can occasionally feel a little clunky (like BFBC2). The spread of the weapons also seems greater (at least the ones I've tried). I think this is where the complaints from some ex-ETQW players come from (hopefully they can whip up a Pro Mod that's more to their tastes). It still takes a lot of ammo to down an enemy so it feels less random than some modern day shooters. It also takes even more ammo to gib an enemy than ETQW, but you can instantly finish them off with the butt of your gun (this mechanic is basically the same as the Strogg Infiltrator/Technician and works similarly well). You can knock people down with melee attacks (which is pretty disorientating) but, thankfully, you cannot kill them with a single knife swipe. The grenades are very weak (may need to be patched). The teamwork required seems even tighter than ETQW. Difficult to tell from a few hours on pub servers, but really impressed with it so far. I was skeptical about the regenerating health but it works fine, partly because you can add another 80% to your health bar with various buffs/captures and this portion can only be refilled by a medic. There are a few bugs. The PC version has had 2 patches since launch and it will probably need another couple. The most serious issues seem to be for people with ATI/AMD cards and the way they handle the virtual textures. To be honest, I've not encountered many problems. I'm averaging around 45fps at 1280x720 with my Nvidia GTS250. The only serious bug I found was the sound disappearing during a map (which is apparently fairly common). When the sound is working it's very good. Not quite not as good as BFBC2, but rather spiffy. There was hardly anyone talking on the servers I visited. I think the default server config needs to be changed in order to allow global VOIP. Pros: - The teamwork element is really strong (even without VOIP).
- Gunplay feels enjoyable.
- Art style is great.
- Unlockable abilities seem fairly balanced.
Cons: - All the character customization options look to have come from Tony Hawk's wardrobe.
- You can't remove the body tattoos. Ever.
- There are no vsays commands to bind/spam
Conclusion: 523 bananas.

One con is also that one map are not very well balanced, the one in the broken ship with the robot to protect and the big door to blow. It is relatively easy for the Resistance to block the whole Security team in the spawn, the 2 exits are to close from the objectives and easy to shoot from a relatively protected positions. It is the only map I’ve seen that and it happens to me 2 times this week-end. One time on the bad side, it was really annoying, some players where trying to go inside the spawn and we were totally blocked without any possibilities to geo anywhere else to counter attack. One time on the good side, when we where on the same server with Malky and Abe, and I confirm that it is really easy to block the team if the defender go quickly in the right place. It is the kind of map where you need some strict rules about spawnblock or zone were defender have not to go or shoot, or a server get empty very quickly. For the rest of the game, like Malky said, it runs really smoothly on my cfg (GTX460, core i5 750, 4Go DDR3 ram). I had the same sound bug from time to time (maybe 3 games on the whole week end, not sop much IMO, I played 13 hours, and each time it happen everything went back after the change of map). Sometime it is also laggy, but it is easy to find another server that works fine, there are plenty. I’ve played mainly engineer, you find also some same thing than in QW, mine and turrets. One funny thing that mines are invisible for the enemy, I think that an operative can see them and mark them for defuse. It makes them very efficient around an objective. Turrets are fast build, you don’t need to wait they fall from the sky, but they need some time to aim, it is not as fast as in QW. There are also 3 levels of turrets in terms of efficiency (that you need to unlock. Engineer can boost the guns efficiency of the teammate, give an Kevlar armor, etc… One nice thing is that it is possible to build barricades to block some ways in defense, and build some stairs, repair other thing in the other side to build new ways (in fixed places on several maps). I find the different classes well balanced, the games is construct in a way that every classes are needed on each map, preventing from stupid team balancing like in BFBC2 (like whole snipers team on the attacking side…). One thing I have not tried yet is size difference of the character. I still use the average size, it is a good compromise between resistance and mobility. Grenades became more efficient when you unlock the mounted grenade launcher for some weapons, but it is true that often people survive around an explosion. I’ve also seen that you can unlock wider splash damage for the soldier. A useful thing is that you can shoot to grenade to make them blow before the timer ends. I’m really enthusiast from the first hours I played. PS: I've added some of you in my Steam friendlist yesterday night, don't forget to press the add button

i had to spend over 4 hours to run brink arrhhh symtom: after the launch and the splash logo, the game doesn't get to work and the best of the situation is that happens without any error code i investigated all i-net sites to solved my probs without luck ... also i un/installed brink and steam many times and downgrade / upgrade the driver too. nothing helped... than i prepared myself for try and error procedure... the problem was the x-fi soundcard more exactly the dolby digital / dts was enabled and that breaks brink at the startup.. btw.. i hate steam ;D pro & cons of the game coming soon
